BOZEMAN – Back by popular demand, the second annual Young Agriculture Leadership Conference (YALC) is scheduled for October 14-16 at the Rock Creek Resort in Red Lodge. Nine of Montana’s most influential agricultural organizations are joining together to present this one-of-a-kind event.
This conference targets young agriculturalists ages 18-40 and is designed to bring together agriculture’s next generation of leaders from across the state to gather the skills and experiences that they will need to be successful industry leaders. By crossing organization and commodity lines, this venue creates a unique opportunity for interaction and an invaluable learning experience.
“The success of last year’s conference was overwhelming with nearly 200 attendees,” said Renee Daniels-Mantle, YALC Planning Committee Co-chair. “We are enthusiastic about continuing to build on the strong foundation that has been laid and we are expecting an even bigger and better conference this year.”
Attendees will be offered workshops on marketing and finance issues, emerging technologies, personal leadership development, estate planning and the basics of being a political candidate. The very popular current issues discussion groups will return - moderated by leading industry experts on both the state and national levels. In addition, the conference will feature a number of networking opportunities, not only with each other, but also with industry and agri-business leaders.
The planning committee for the event consists of one member from each of the nine organizations, which include the Montana Agri-Business Association, Montana Cattlemen’s Association, Montana CattleWomen, Montana Grain Growers Association, Montana Farm Bureau Federation, Montana FFA Association, Montana 4-H, Montana State University College of Agriculture and the Montana Stockgrowers Association.
“From the earliest planning stages of this event, we have received tremendous support from within our industry,” said Lars Hanson, YALC Committee Co-chair. “This conference is an excellent opportunity for young people to interact with these agricultural leaders and gather new insight as we continue to improve and promote agriculture in our state.”
