The Montana Department of Agriculture will be hosting the 28th Annual Young
Ag Couples Conference on January 9-12, 2008, at the Great Northern Hotel in
Helena, Montana.
The conference will address contemporary issues relative to family-operated
agribusiness as well as development of leadership skills needed to survive
in the cyclical economic climate of agriculture.
MT CattleWomen Inc is encouraged to submit nominations for couples to attend
the conference. Please share this request with your district and county
associates. We ask that you contact the couples prior to nominating
them to see if they are able to participate. Please use the enclosed
nomination form
to nominate couples by December 3, 2007.
**New! This year the couples requested a trade show with agriculture organizations
throughout the state. The trade show will take place, Wednesday January
9, 2008 from 4:30pm – 9:00 pm. If you wish to participate, please fill
out the trade show form and send it back by December 3, 2007.
The conference is funded in part by grants from agricultural organizations
(like yours) and the department’s Agricultural Finance Program. In the
past, agricultural groups have contributed from $100 to $650, but any amount
will be appreciated. Checks can be made payable to the Montana Department
of Agriculture (RE: Young Ag Couples Conference).
Couples selected to participate in the conference will have lodging and
meals costs paid while in attendance. There will be a conference
registration fee of $25 per couple.
To be eligible to attend the conference, couples should demonstrate leadership
abilities and earn their primary living from farming, ranching, agribusiness,
or other agricultural enterprises. Our age group preference is 25-45
years of age.
Due to fund restrictions couples may only attend one conference; therefore,
please refrain from nominating a couple that has participated in the past.
We have enclosed the attendance lists from the last several conferences to
assist you in this matter.
We appreciate your interest and continued support. Please send
