Established to honor the memory of Betty Weaver Keller and other deceased members and friends This scholarship is offered to young men or women that reside in Montana in the areas of Northern Chouteau County, Hill County and Blaine County. Preference will be given to those individuals majoring in a field beneficial to the livestock industry. However, the committee may also consider applications from a broad array of curriculum that will positively impact rural Montana. The applicant must have maintained a C average to be eligible. The scholarship is given annually to a graduating high school senior or college sophomore. The amount varies, but is a minimum of $500.00. The money is paid in two installments to the recipient after the treasurer of the scholarship fund, Helen Young, receives a copy of the recipient's grades at the end of the fall and spring semesters. Please submit a letter of recommendation excluding relatives. Some suggestions would be a teacher, religious leader or a person active in civic affairs. The letter must be sealed in an envelope by the signer. Also submit two character references including addresses and phone numbers. The committee members are Lisa Huestis, chairperson, Jay Smith, President of NCMT Stockgrowers, Carolyn Liddle, President of the NCMT CattleWomen, and Darrin Boss from the Northern Ag Research Center. All of the information submitted by the applicant in the essay, transcript and revealed in the letter of recommendation will be made known only to the committee. They will be charged with the responsibility of keeping it in the strictest confidence. |
