MCW GUIDELINES FOR APPLYING & RECEIVING
A CROCK OF BEEF FUNDING FY 2010

1.    Locals desiring grants must have their applications in no later than Sept. 1 of each year.
2.    Locals must submit these to the MCW Crock of Beef Committee Chair Kae McCloy, 2394 Fly Creek Rd.,Pompeys Pillar, MT 59064 or mccloy@be-quik.com
at least two weeks before the event.  Approval will be given within a week.
3.    The SNAP-Ed (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education) will provide the CattleWomen with at least 1-week notice of the number of participants in the class; this gives CattleWomen time to procure the beef, vegetables and/or the slow cookers (when funds are available from Walmart).
4.    A maximum of 20 people per class.
5.    All slow cookers to be 3 qt size, roast size 2# only.  The roasts should be the lesser cuts such as chuck, arm or round, whichever is least expensive.  If there is a better cut of roast that is on sale and is less expensive then the lesser cuts, that is allowable.
6.    Only one slow cooker per household.  Make sure the BEEF is the emphasis on the last class, not the slow cooker, (if available).
7.    The last class should be for participants who have completed a Nutrition series of classes consisting of 6-8 lessons. No Exceptions.
8.    A Beef Checkoff Logo should be posted around the area during the last class. Pictures are required with the logos in them, pictures of the participants not required to ensure anonymity.
9.    Credit should be given to the Walmart Stores if the money for the slow cookers comes from them. Post a sign.
10.    At least one CattleWomen must be present at the last class, to help set up materials and cleanup. A Beef presentation must be given as well as beef pamphlets and recipes from the Montana Beef Council.
11.    Funds will not be dispersed until the committee receives a report from both Nutrition personnel and the local CattleWomen/Cowbell group. The entire report is due to the Crock of Beef Chair within 2 weeks. The report must consist of:
·    Summary from Local CattleWomen group
·    Summary from Nutrition Agent
·    Evaluation forms from individual homemakers
·    Partnership Contribution forms from both local CattleWomen/Cowbell group and Nutrition personnel.
·    Original receipts with expense form attached
·    Pictures
12.    All pages of the reports must be encased in plastic sheets to be added to the book that the Beef Council requires documenting for the various projects.
13.    All exceptions must go through the Crock of Beef Committee Chair Kae McCloy; 875-2222 (H) or 855-9811 (cell).
